You may know Thomson Holidays and First Choice Holidays as leading Tenerife Package Holiday Operators but it’s not long until they take delivery of their first Boeing 787 Dreamliner and you could be the first to fly to Mexico or Florida on their brand new 787 Dreamliner!
In May 2013, Thomson Airways will be the first airline in the UK to get the plane everyone’s talking about. The Dreamliner is the super-jet that’ll set new standards in long haul flying.
You can fly on the Thomson Airways 787 Dreamliner on certain flights to Mexico, Florida and Phuket from Gatwick, Manchester, East Midlands and Glasgow.
What’s different about Dreamliner:
Room Overhead ..
Even at its lowest point, the cabin is over 6 foot high, so there’s space, space and more space.
Bigger Seat-pitch ..
Travel in Economy Club and you’ll get a 33″ or 34″ seat pitch – that’s more legroom in economy than BA, Virgin Atlantic, bmi and Monarch. Upgrade to Premium Club and you’ll get 38″ – in other words, loads of space to stretch out.
Horizon Views ..
You’ll get a view of the horizon wherever you’re sitting on the Dreamliner. This is because the seats have been laid out in a really clever way and the windows are about 30% bigger than those of an average jet. When you’re ready for a nap, simply dim the windows at the touch of a button.
More Oxygen ..
You’ll step off the Dreamliner feeling fresher as its re-jigged cabin pressure lets more oxygen into your blood.
Mood Lighting ..
Your body clock will be more in tune wherever you’re heading on the Dreamliner because it’s kitted out with a mood lighting system that can mimic things like dawn and dusk.
A Quieter Flight ..
The Dreamliner will generate 60 per cent less noise than standard planes during take-off and landing. It’ll be quieter in the air, too.
‘Me’ Time ..
You can look forward to some quality ‘me’ time on the Thomson Airways 787 Dreamliner. It’s fitted with cutting-edge seatback TVs, which you can even plug your iPod into.
The Techincal Stuff:
Composite material ..
While standard planes are metal, the Dreamliner is made of something called composite – a combination of different materials. It basically means it’s stronger, lighter and more aerodynamic.
This jet will zoom through the air at Mach 0.85. That’s the equivalent of 640 miles per hour – about three times faster than a Formula 1 car at full throttle.
Powerful engines ..
When it comes to powerful engines, the Dreamliner’s take some beating. Each one has enough power to supply energy to two million iPods at the same time.
More fuel efficient ..
Take one composite structure and a bunch of revolutionary engines, and you’ve got yourself a more fuel-efficient plane that emits less CO2 – about 20 per cent less carbon on a flight from the UK to the US.
A bigger reach ..
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner can fly about 8,000 miles without stopping, which means it can go direct to destinations other planes can’t reach.
So even if you’re a regular Tenerife holiday’er the delivery of the first Dreamliner will open a whole world of new Long-Haul destinations to sister-companies Thomson Holidays and First Choice Holidays who both use Thomson Airways aircraft.
They’re kicking things off with just Florida and Mexico but with a total of 13 Dreamliners on order it won’t be long before far more destinations are added.
We love Tenerife but we may just have to grab a holiday departing on the new Thomson Dreamliner!Share
